Fernando has extensive experience advising companies in the mining sector. Throughout his career, he has provided strategic counsel on the formation of international joint ventures, financing and exploration agreements, as well as the buying and selling of properties and shares in mining companies. His expertise includes option and exploration contracts, facilitating key transactions for business expansion in the sector. Fernando currently serves on the board of several mining companies, including Desarrollo de Prospectos Mineros S.A., Pampa Exploración S.A., Filo del Sol Exploración S.A., and Rio Ex S.A., where he contributes his strategic vision and deep industry knowledge.
Fernando is a graduate of the Universidad Católica Argentina (1982) and completed a Master’s in Business Law at the Universidad Austral in 1993, strengthening his profile with comprehensive training in management and business direction.
Throughout his professional career, Fernando has participated in significant cases, such as the Tenke-JOGMEC joint ventures in 2004 and 2008, and DEPROMINSA with Vale do Rio Doce in 2005. In 2013, he led the reorganization of subsidiaries in Argentina, including Filo del Sol Exploración S.A. and Pampa Exploración S.A. Other notable contributions include the sale of JOGMEC’s interests in the Josemaría project and off-take agreements in 2017, as well as the Spin-Off of Filo Mining and Josemaria Resources between 2016 and 2019. Additionally, he was involved in the sale of AMINSA to Fortescue in 2018 and the prospecting offer for the Valle Ancho project in the province of Catamarca.
Fernando is a member of the Legal Council of the Argentine-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, a recognition that highlights his leadership in the sector and his commitment to best practices in the mining industry.
He has published “Doing Business in Argentina – Mining” in Global Law, where he discusses the nuances of the legal and investment framework in the Argentine mining sector, actively contributing to the dissemination of knowledge in his area of expertise.
